The rolling force is transferred to the chock through the bearing, so whether the roll chock structure of the rolling mill is reasonable and whether the accuracy meets the requirements will have an important influence on the service life of bearing and the safe operation of rolling mill.

• Regular inspection and maintenance of chocks are necessary to prevent failures that could lead to significant financial losses. Chocks are carefully disassembled, cleaned, and inspected for damage. Material and Manufacturing:

• Original chocks are typically manufactured from cast steel or gray cast iron, with carbon content ranging from 0.2% to 0.3%. Minor welding repairs are possible for cast iron chocks, but major repairs are not feasible due to the extensive welding material required

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is used to analyze the stress distribution within chocks, which helps in optimizing their design for improved service life and load-bearing capacity. Studies have shown that chocks made from certain materials, such as CA6NM, can produce significantly less deformation and equivalent stress compared to those made from gray cast iron
